One of the New York Times Magazine’s “Top Ideas of 2006,” Kiva.org is the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to an entrepreneur in the developing world.

The Kiva Translation Program offers the opportunity to use your skills to make a direct contribution, improve language skills, network with other Kiva volunteers and build your resume.

Volunteering from their own homes, Kiva volunteers translate entrepreneurs’ profiles into English, which are then posted for funding at Kiva.org.

I’ve read the ESIT exam requirements and I intend to register for the exam. I’ve studied and worked with English, French and Spanish as a Translator for about 3 years now (English being my A Language), but as much as I understand french very,I still don’t speak it as fluently as I speak spanish (I stayed in a spanish speaking counrty for 4 years and in a french speaking environment for 2 years). Do you think I have chance with ESIT? I want to make french my B working language since french is more marketable in Africa where I work. Could you give me whatever i deas you might have on this, I’ve never worked as an interpreter, I would really love to.
